1. Scope
This Children's Privacy Notice applies to personal information collected about players under the age of 13 who participate in teams managed through Sideline Command. Our platform serves youth flag football players ages 5–18, and this notice specifically addresses our COPPA obligations for the youngest participants.
2. How We Operate
Children do not create accounts or directly use Sideline Command. This is an important distinction from apps and websites that children use directly.
Sideline Command is a team management tool used by adults—coaches, league administrators, and parents/guardians—to organize youth flag football. Children's information is entered into the platform by these adults, not by the children themselves. This is the standard model for youth sports management platforms (similar to TeamSnap, GameChanger, and other established services).
3. Information We Collect About Children
The following information about child players may be entered by coaches or parents:

4. How Children's Information Is Used
We use children's information solely for the following purposes:
- Team management: building rosters, assigning positions, creating lineups
- Game day operations: displaying player names on play scripts, managing substitutions, tracking game participation
- Player safety: making health information (allergies, medications, medical notes) available to coaching staff during practices and games
- Parent communication: enabling coaches to share relevant team information with parents/guardians
- Player development: tracking skills progression and game statistics over the season
We do not use children's information for marketing, advertising, behavioral targeting, or any purpose unrelated to youth sports team management.
5. Who Can See Children's Information

Children's information is never shared with:
- Advertisers or ad networks
- Data brokers or data resellers
- Marketing companies
- Any third party for commercial purposes
- Other teams outside the league
6. Consent Model
6.1 Coach as Organizational Agent
When coaches add players to a roster, they act as authorized agents of the sports organization (team or league). This is consistent with the COPPA exception for information collected by school or organizational agents acting in the educational or recreational interest of the child.
Coaches should have appropriate authorization from their league or organization to collect player information, and should inform parents that player data will be managed through Sideline Command.
6.2 Parent Consent via Parent Portal
When a parent/guardian creates an account and claims their child's profile through the Parent Portal, this constitutes verifiable parental consent for the ongoing collection and use of their child's information within the platform. During this process, parents:
- Review what information has been collected about their child
- Can update or correct any information
- Can view who has access to their child's data
- Can opt out of optional data collection (photos, health information)
6.3 Photo Consent
Player photos are optional. Coaches should obtain consent from a parent/guardian before uploading a photo of a child under 13. Parents can request removal of their child's photo at any time.
7. Parental Rights
Parents and legal guardians of children under 13 have the following rights:
- Review: You can review all personal information collected about your child by accessing the Parent Portal or contacting your child's coach
- Correct: You can request corrections to inaccurate information about your child
- Delete: You can request deletion of your child's personal information at any time
- Refuse further collection: You can request that no additional information be collected about your child (the child may be removed from the digital roster as a result)
- Revoke photo consent: You can request removal of your child's photo at any time
- Restrict health data: You can opt out of health information collection (allergies, medications, medical notes); coaches will be notified that this information is not available digitally
8. How to Exercise Your Rights
Parents can exercise their rights through any of these methods:
- Through the Parent Portal: Log in, navigate to your child's profile, and manage information directly
- Contact the coach: Ask your child's coach to update or remove information through the app
- Contact us directly: Email support@sidelinecommand.com with the subject "COPPA Parental Request" — include your name, your child's name, the team name, and the specific action you're requesting
We will verify the identity of the requesting parent and respond within 10 business days.
9. Data Retention & Deletion
- Active roster: A child's information is retained while they are on an active team roster
- Roster removal: When a player is removed from a roster (season ends, player leaves team), their data is soft-deleted (marked as deleted in the database). This allows coaches to recover accidentally deleted players.
- Permanent deletion: Parents can request permanent deletion of their child's data at any time by contacting us. Permanent deletion removes all data from active databases. Automated backups containing the data expire within 30 days.
- Season rollover: Player data is not automatically carried over between seasons. Coaches must actively maintain their rosters each season.
10. Data Security
We protect children's information with the same security measures applied to all data on our platform:
- All data transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Row-Level Security (RLS) ensures data access is limited to authorized users only
- Database hosted on Supabase in the US West region
- Regular automated backups with 30-day retention
- Role-based access controls ensure only authorized team members can view player data

11. Third-Party Access
Children's data is processed by the following third-party services, solely for operating the platform:
- Supabase: Database hosting and authentication (US West region)
- Vercel: Web hosting and serverless functions
Children's data is not sent to Google Analytics, OpenAI, GoHighLevel, Stripe, Sentry, or any advertising or marketing service.
12. Changes to This Notice
If we make material changes to how we handle children's personal information, we will:
- Update this notice and change the "Last updated" date
- Notify coaches and connected parents via email or in-app notification
- Provide at least 30 days' notice before material changes take effect
- Obtain new parental consent if the changes expand the collection or use of children's data
